Lego GBC Table Layouts

Lego GBC Table Layouts covers some common table layouts used when running a Lego Great Ball Contraption Display.

All shows begin with a layout, this can range from 1 table to more than 30, so it’s worth spending some time sketching out a layout plan to better understand your Lego GBC Equipment and Lego GBC Tool requirements.

Straight

Length is dependant on the Train module, for the most part, I would aim to keep these below 30ft / 9m.

With no stanchions allow a set back of 6″ from the fence to the edge of the table as children and adults will push up and lean on the table as they move past.

Typically requires a Train module like my Lego GBC EV3 Truck but I have seen some nifty very long ramps used as well.

Length

5-30ft / 1.5-9m

L shape without stanchions

Length is dependant on the Train module, for the most part, I would aim to keep these below 30ft / 9m.

I prefer L shapes over a straight layout if I have the room as it allows people to move around a layout.

With no stanchions allow a set back of 6″ from the fence to the edge of the table as children and adults will push up and lean on the table as they move around.

I’ve used this layout in ILUGNY shows.

Length

10-30ft / 3-9m

Rectangle shape with stanchions

A full loop typically requires more people to watch the modules behind you.

Requires a bridge module.

I’ve used this layout in ILUGNY shows.

Length

40-80ft / 12-24m

Large Rectangle shape with stanchions

A full loop typically requires more people to watch the modules behind you.

Requires at least two bridge modules.

This layout is typical of Brickworld and BrickFair shows.

Length

from 80ft / 24m
